The New Turf!

Pets Too!

Fallen oak leaves on our new turf!

The following photos are of our newly installed artificial turf. We were looking to change the appearance and texture of our rapidly aging deck (the 800 sq ft metal roof that sits above the garage). We really wanted to be able to go outside and enjoy that area even in the afternoon sun. Problem was the all metal deck (painted white) radiated heat like crazy and was blinding! Our options included (1) Build a new roof (2) Extend the wooden deck (3) Install artificial turf. Of the three, the turf was the easiest & cheapest (?) to install. Well, one look at the before and after shots and you can see for yourself what a difference 2 1/2 rolls of turf can do! Now we can enjoy our deck again, even when it's 90 degrees outside! We used to eat some of our meals out there until it became too hot (and bright), but now that the turf is down, it's a much more inviting place to be!

You'll notice that in some of the photos the seams are visible. This is only temporary as we haven't fastened the seams together yet. We're waiting about a week or two for the rolls to "settle" and for the grass to "fluff up." With the first roll that arrived, it took about 1 week for the whole thing to loosen up and stretch out.

After!

Nicole rests on our weathered, swinging bench (previous owners left it for us). We're going to replace that later with a hammock or something.

Laundry dangles from the clothes line above the turf.

The corner spa no longer looks like it's sitting in a junk yard!

Nicole looks on as I snap some more photos (view is east towards the house). Seams will not be visible when we're done with the installation.

Nicole and Tippy sprawl out on the new turf.

Tippy rubs off her scent all over HER new turf.

Still smells like the factory... must make it smell like me!

Nicole and Tippy.

Happy with the new turf!

Havin' fun hangin' out on the deck!

K-9 approved!

View from the roof... sort of.

Tippy stalks a mountain bug.

Tippy's happy as long as she's caged with us!

Kahlil explores this mysterious new surface!

Kahlil decides it's a better idea to scope out the terrain first from a higher vantage point.

Kahlil gives up.

The gang hanging out in the new yard!

Done napping, it's time to explore!

Tippy eyes a milk bone.

This has nothing to do with the new turf!

Nor this!

Definitely a much more inviting space!
