Honeymoon on Kaua'i
After a perfect wedding in Fallbrook, it was off to Kaua'i for our honeymoon! I had been to all the islands except Moloka'i and Kaua'i, and Nicole had never been to any of the Hawaiian Islands. I had high expectations for Kaua'i because of it's highly advertised reputation for being the most beautiful, verdant island of them all. While that reputation may be well deserved, we didn't explore enough of the island to really verify that. All in all, the island had some very beautiful spots, but Maua'i and Hawai'i are much more exciting in my opinion. Still, a good time was had by all. No complaints here...except about the weather. The lack of steady Trade Winds left the islands steamy hot! Vog (volcanic smog/fog) only added to the misery. We didn't see a single white cap out over the ocean until the day we left and the visibility was poor. In any event, a muggy day on Hawai'i is better than any day spent at work!

No Rain, No Rainbows. This was taken from our tour boat while heading to the Na Pali Coast.

Our first glimpse of the Na Pali Coast. The hazy mist is sea spray from 10-15 foot surf.

The Majestic Na Pali Coast.

These cliffs have been featured in many films, including Jurassic Park.

The only way to this secluded beach is by boat or by foot. The nearest road is many mailes away.

A really dorky picture of me with Nicole.

Another one of those Na Pali boat tours.

The happy honeymooners.

A muddy stream cuts through some fantastically red, volcanic soil.

The overlook at Waimea Canyon... I'd imagine the view looks like this more often then not.

The view opens up about an hour later when the clouds "clear."

The overlook at Waimea Canyon... look, it's not raining!

Wailua Falls.

The mist of Wailua Falls rises with the birds above the surrounding forest.

A neat dust devil as seen from our plane while on descent into Kahului Airport on Maui.

The dust devil gets a little bigger as we near the airport.
