The Perfect Swimming Hole!

This "pond" had an all-sand bottom, turquoise water, and a few underwater "rock chairs" for lounging!

The middle of this crystal clear swimming hole was probably 15+ ft deep!

Watch out, they spit!

You ever notice how pets seem to resemble their owners? Well, maybe not in the ears, but their smiles sure are similar!

Harry shows his approval to the folks at Mono Village! While on the way down the mountain that morning, Harry predicted that this would happen (text and all). You see, 6 days earlier, we had to buy a parking pass from the jerks who run Mono Village before we could set out on our northern Sierra adventure. They told Harry to tape it to his back window even after Harry warned them they wouldn't be able to see it through the tinted glass. They assured him it wouldn't be a problem. Well what do ya know! They couldn't see it, so they awarded Harry with a rather wordy ticket. How curteous of them! These guys were real bright! They warned us about keeping food in our car (no duhhh) because of their bear problems, yet they didn't even have lids on their trash cans nor were there any bear boxes in their campground! Most campers just left their food out on the tables, and we even saw one person who discarded a package of stale hot dog buns on the side of the road! Gee, I wonder why they have a bear problem? Leave it to the folks at the Mono Ghetto! We'd had enough. We left loudly in a cloud of dust, blaring the Beach Boys, hell-bent on getting as quickly as possible down the mountain to the delicious Jolly Cone burger stand in beautiful Bridgeport CA! Next year, we're sticking to the Southern Sierra!
